The University Center's basement is undergoing a marked change this semester. Most people know about the post office, Andy's Eatery, and the Scotland Yard gaming area. But did you know that the Computer Store will soon make the UC basement its home?
At the beginning of this semester, a PNC bank branch office opened its doors to students, staff, and faculty. Two additional ATM machines were installed, in addition to an informational computer kiosk where interested parties can learn just what PNC can do for them. Stop in today and you can learn about opening an account, ask the advisors financial questions, and take part in a contest that could win you $700.
There is also a new prayer room designed for Muslim Carnegie Mellon community members and guests, though members of other faiths are also welcome to use the room. The Computer Store will soon share space with the Bookstore's basement area. The offices of Scotch 'n' Soda, Catering Orders, Conference Services, Parking, and the Robotics Club will be located down the newly created hallway adjacent to the PNC branch.
There are more changes on the horizon for the University Center and the campus in general as it prepares for the construction of the new Gates Center for Computer Science. We'll keep you posted.
